just noticed something possibly insightful...

This week, it occurred to me that, when I teach, I tend to put my hands in my pants pockets...and this is something I never used to do before. Anyone have any clues as to what the significance might be?

interesting - I gesticulate with my hands a lot... which I don't do in everyday speech = weird - we're the opposites!

I'll play the Freudian game. On display in front of the troops, gotta protect cause they might get snippy and chop it off.

and just to goof with Jen's classroom bit, "look at me, I'm an attention whore!!"

Actually, Jen's makes sense as trying to be bigger than usual - more demonstrative to be hopefully more engaging and keep 'em awake.

Glad someone wanted to play the Freud card...but I knew it wouldn't be me...

I've only been doing this the last year or so, and I've been teaching longer...so it's really puzzling.

Maybe an unconscious reaction to knowing how larger-than-life I appear in the classroom? Man, in there, I've got presence to boot...too bad it doesn't translate to other arenas...
