I've never understood people who have problems writing new songs. I treat songwriting as a muscle; if I don't exercise it regularly, it will atrophy. So I keep writing. I finish writing ideas that don't start out too well...because by the time I'm finished with them, who knows? And, as a result, I tend to get ideas pop into my head. Saturday, as I was getting ready to go into the living room, I had chords and a melody pop into my skull. That one will be the next writing project
Artistically,
I am currently in the midst of a whole lot of recording. In addition to
the album project I announced earlier (it is still ongoing, but it's going slow...because of reasons), I also am finally recording my
Christmas single that I wrote way back in 2013 for the as of yet unaired Livewire television episode. To make it a true single, I even wrote a second holiday song called "I Don't Wanna Be Depressed (This Xmas).
In spite of this, I
still had about 13 songs which did not have a home. But I did buy a new vocal microphone which also allows me to record pretty good quality guitars. So, after some
heavy research (let's be honest: I did a web search), I decided I knew
enough and had enough material to record yet another album. So that's what I
started to do.
I have eight songs
that fit together pretty well. I've formulated pretty good arrangements
for them. I found an open source drum machine program and taught myself
how to use it. And yesterday, I finished programming the drum parts.
I don't, however, have a good album name for this one. Suggestions?
