hair today...

For whatever reason, I have noticed an increasing amount of undergraduate women with their hair pulled back into a "Pebbles" ponytail. While I can understand the desire for low maintenance, I can't really understand why someone would want a ball on the top of their hair.

Personally, I'm hoping for a comeback for the "bedhead" look...or "the claw" from my high school days.

I will admit to fashioning my hair ala Pebbles on a few occasions - mostly as an undergrad .. I even went so far as to do a Bjork and have multiple little buns on my head - always got a good response at the bars. My yoga instructor pulls her hair into 2 side ponytails for our class.

reason? it's a fairly easy way to pull your hair back. And, depending on your hair length, the singular ponytail or bun may not catch all your hair (think layered, short in front looks) whereas the dual side-top ponytails will keep the hair out of your face.

there you go, query solved :)

Hey, I never doubted that there was a practical reason...I just think it looks silly. I mean, I never try to emulate Fred Flinstone or Charley Brown.

The buns would be good for a freak-out look.

The ponytails would probably make one look underage...which I guess could be a benefit, if you were into that kind of thing.

It is, however, one of the curses of having shorter hair is that I can't really play with it like I used to when it was long. The benefit is that I don't have to...

I generally agree that the dual ponytails is infantilizing but I like the dual-muliple bun look...
